What does this tool do?

This free tool takes your source photo and generates two production-ready canvas wrap files using the same engine that powers the full CanvasPrep platform:

Proof File

A 72 DPI preview with visual guides for production planning and customer approval. Includes red fold lines (showing where the canvas wraps around the wooden frame), blue center tick marks (for alignment), green edge ticks (marking the wrap boundary), a black cut border, and an order label in the bleed margin.

Print File

A 300 DPI production-ready file with mirror edge wrapping and calculated bleed based on frame depth. The mirror wrap reflects the image edges outward, creating a seamless look when the canvas is stretched around the frame. Output is JPEG with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, sRGB color space, and an embedded ICC profile for consistent color reproduction on any printer.

What is mirror edge wrapping?

Mirror wrapping takes the edges of your image and reflects them outward to fill the frame depth. This creates a seamless continuation of the image on the sides of the canvas, so the viewer sees a natural extension rather than a hard crop or solid color. It's the most popular edge wrap style for canvas prints.

What is bleed?

Bleed is the extra material beyond the visible print area that ensures clean edges after stretching. CanvasPrep automatically calculates the correct bleed based on frame depth — typically 0.984" for standard frames (0.75") and 1.772" for deep frames (1.5"+). This means your print operator has margin for error when stretching the canvas.

Need more than mirror wrapping?

The full CanvasPrep platform supports 5 edge wrap types (mirror, gallery, stretch, solid color, and image), any canvas size up to 200", collage templates with up to 37+ photos, batch processing, Dropbox integration, custom branding on output files, and proof approval workflows with customer-facing review pages.
